Portuguese Sausage and Sauerkraut

Slow Cooker Style

Portuguese Sausage and Sauerkraut Ask my brother if there’s a perk to being the family patriarch! He might just mention this dish. I’m celebrating Father’s Day with one of my brother’s recipes. We don’t have to think alike to enjoy those family traditions! And everyone in the family seems to have a different opinion right now! Oops! Enjoy this amazingly hearty but not too heavy for warm weather recipe. It’s a slow cooker classic. Yep, Dan makes his own sauerkraut too. I’ll be taking that up another time. Enjoy some of these previously posted recipes my brother has shared with me while the crock pot does all the work. Linguica is one of our key ingredients. The variety we use here, Raven Brand, has less fat in my opinion. Important when not precooking. And paprika? I doubt it. Check them out, here. Located in the small town of Armona, California.

And Happy Father’s Day!

White Chocolate Chip Cookies

My Mother’s Day Dessert

White Chocolate Chip Cookies with Cranberries

My Mother was never big on sweets, or so she would say. But she was always good for a cookie, the moist and chewy variety. My Daughter is pretty much the same, good for a cookie but it better be a pretty darn good one.

These cookies fit the bill for my two favorite Moms.
My Daughter with My Mother 5 years ago.

If you haven’t visited my Daughter’s Inspirational Style Blog catch it here. Beautifully done, Miss.

This recipe, too, is one of my Mother’s … saved from the back of a Mariani Cranberries bag December 2002. I made one significant change, no melted butter. Instead I leave the butter out at room temperature until it almost loses its shape.

One delicious cookie recipe!

Valentine’s

Valentine'sYep, I definitely have a prejudice about Valentine’s … Must haves: My Guy’s Favorites, Hors d’oeuvres & Wine, Chocolate, Rich Desserts, & Roses. Oops, forgot Jewelry. I have four children and we do our Valentine’s Day cards and cookies but the night is mine. And hopefully it isn’t alone … a great Italian movie, in a pinch.

Italian Cuisine is most often my choice but I’ve made roasted turkey, brisket, prime rib, broiled chicken, or just had wine with hors d’oeuvres depending on the guy. lol It’s just fun to cook up something he likes.

Two Ways

Chardonnay Cake With Buttercream or Citrus Drizzle

A cake with presence! This is our holiday cake this year. It’s liked by all the family. Yes, we have family not into chocolate nor cheesecake, pumpkin spice or nuts. This deliciously fits the bill. And it loosens up my time in the kitchen. For the recipe check out my original recipe post, Chardonnay Cake with Buttercream.

An alternative is a box mix version. Yes, I’ve made this too! Allrecipes’ Wine Cake,  here.

Quick, easy, and Holiday presentable!

ChallahThis was last year’s Thanksgiving bread and it was perfect! After years of homemade bread and rolls at Thanksgiving our baker was invited to another celebration, and forgot to at least provide us with some great baked goods. Haha.

Enjoy this recipe together with pictures. Give it a try. And you’ll see what we missed this year.
