GPT’s Idea of One Pan Pasta

Less Meghan Sussex’s One Pan Spaghetti al Pomodoro and More One Pan Spaghetti Bolognese … This is what chatGPT thinks a one pan pasta should look and taste like. It’s actually quite good. Perhaps a little more sauce than a typical serving of spaghetti but that’s easily remedied. Just add a little more pasta or reduce the water. Quick, Easy and Delicious!

Recipe

2 Tablespoons olive oil
3/4 Cup finely chopped onion
3 Minced garlic cloves
1 Pound ground beef or Italian sausage (or omit meat)
Salt and Pepper (to your taste)
1 Teaspoon oregano
1/2 Teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 28 Ounce can crushed tomatoes (Roma tomatoes preferred for sweetness)
1 Teaspoon of sugar (if needed)
3 Cups water or broth (Start with 2.5 cups and add more if needed.)
8 Ounces of spaghetti (Break in half if you like.)
Basil or Italian parsley for garnish
Parmesan for sprinkling

I used a 3.5 quart braiser without the lid for this recipe.

Heat olive oil over medium heat and add onion. Cook until translucent then add garlic for a minute before adding meat. Cook meat, salt and pepper to taste, and drain off fat if necessary.

Add spices to meat then add tomatoes and water (or broth if using) and bring to a simmer. Let simmer for about 5 minutes. Taste for need of sugar and salt. Turn heat to low medium.

Add spaghetti. Break in half if you like. This will distribute the pasta more evenly in the sauce. Cook until pasta is tender. This may take a bit longer than usual pasta time. Make sure pasta is submerged fully in the sauce while cooking. Taste for salt and pepper need.

Serve with basil garnish or a sprinkle of parsley. Have grated Parmesan available.
