Cheesy Biscuits

Whips up easily! Few ingredients … you have in your pantry. I woke up this morning craving homemade biscuits but wanted to try something that could be a standalone breakfast. Not that this biscuit in smaller form isn’t the perfect appetizer. I love the cheese and green chilies combination, but I found this quick recipe by Sargento that combines cheese and butter. Oh, and black pepper too. Rich, flakey and delicious!

Recipe

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

1-3/4 Cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
3/4 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 Cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 Cup butter (cold)
3/4 Cup milk

Whisk the first four ingredients together.

Cut the cold butter and one cup of the cheese into the dry ingredients. I used my hands to do this. Quicker and Easier.

Stir the milk into the mixture until all ingredients are moist. It might be a bit lumpy.

Turn ingredients onto a floured surface (flour your hands) and knead about 6-8 times until somewhat smooth.

Roll out dough about 1/2 inch thick and cut with a 2 inch round cutter (1 1/2 inch for appetizer size).

Place biscuits on prepared cookie sheet. (These will stick without spray because of the cheese.) Sprinkle the tops with the remaining cheese.

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes one dozen.
