How about this for a Holiday Meal. So easy and So delicious. Another dinner prepped by my oldest! This recipe uses the canned tomatoes we had shipped from Italy. Check out how we found this delicious tomato sauce. Not to worry, Sclafani Crushed Tomato Sauce is also available on Amazon. It’s worth a try!

This is one of those meals that preps quickly then bakes ’til bubbly. If your family and friends are into pasta they’ll love this.

Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2 Tablespoons olive oil
3/4 Cup diced sweet yellow onion
1 Clove minced garlic
3/4 to 1 Pound ground mild spiced Italian sausage (Italian sausages in casing can be used-remove casing before adding)
28 Ounces crushed tomato sauce-use Italian (plum) tomato sauce
Salt to taste
1 Pound long zit
1 Cup ricotta
1 1/2 Cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2-3/4 Cup grated Parmesan cheese or Romano for a stronger taste

In a large pot cook pasta per package instructions. While cooking begin the sauce.

In a large skillet heat one tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and add onion. Sauté onion until tender but not browned. Add the garlic for the last minute and stir. Remove from skillet and save.

Add the sausage to the skillet adding another tablespoon of oil if needed. Cook sausage until crumbly and done through but not dry. Drain off rendered fat.

Add the tomato sauce to the skillet along with the onion/garlic and heat through. Avoid evaporating sauce. Just heat through. Taste for need of salt.

In an oiled casserole dish spoon a little sauce over the bottom & spread then add half the  drained pasta. Spoon a little of the sauce over the top. Dot this with ricotta. Add another layer of pasta and then sauce.

Sprinkle cheeses over the top and place into preheated oven for 25 minutes. Just until hot through.
